Why this matters Monitoring that shows the whole reef, not just a sample
Beyond the snapshot
Traditional reef monitoring relies on transects and quadrats — small, fixed samples that miss what's happening across the broader reef. This project uses drone mapping to capture entire reef areas on every survey. The result is something genuinely rare: a spatially complete, repeatable time series that shows change at scale, not just at a point.
Science that doesn't hide
Reef monitoring data has traditionally waited behind publication timelines — often years before it reaches anyone who could use it. Every orthomosaic from this project is made openly available on GeoNadir as soon as it's processed. Funders, researchers, and the public can explore the same data the science team works with.
